Salisbury, MD – March 31, 2026
Stephen Decatur earned a hard‑fought 4–3 win over the Parkside Rams on Tuesday afternoon, using timely hitting and a dominant performance on the mound to secure the decision in a tightly contested regional matchup.
Early Opportunities, Scoreless Start
Both teams struggled to break through early as starting pitchers settled in quickly. Parkside and Decatur each left runners on base in the opening frames, with clean defensive play and strikeouts keeping the scoreboard quiet through the first four innings.
Decatur Breaks Through in the Fifth
The game shifted in the top of the fifth when Decatur found momentum with a four‑run rally. Johnny Hobgood delivered the key blow with a two‑RBI effort, while Mason Edelmann added a run‑scoring contribution to push Decatur out in front 4–0. Despite limited hits on the day, Decatur capitalized on walks and execution to build the lead.
Rams Respond Late
Parkside refused to go quietly. The Rams plated a run in the bottom of the sixth as Ryan Lewis drove in a run, cutting into the deficit. Momentum carried into the seventh inning when AJ Agoglia doubled and later scored, followed by an RBI from Austin Kinhart to make it a one‑run game at 4–3.
Final Frame Falls Short
With the tying run within reach in the bottom of the seventh, Parkside put pressure on Decatur, but veteran pitching and defensive poise sealed the outcome. Decatur worked out of the jam to close out the win and hand the Rams a narrow defeat.
Player of the Game
Caleb Loring, (Decatur) was outstanding on the mound for Stephen Decatur, pitching a complete seven‑inning game. He allowed just three runs (two earned) on four hits while striking out 10 batters across 94 pitches. His ability to limit damage late proved to be the difference in the win.
Final
Stephen Decatur 4, Parkside 3
Despite being out‑hit, Decatur made the most of its opportunities, while Parkside showed resilience and late‑game urgency that nearly flipped the result.
