SNOW HILL, MD – May 9, 2026
Snow Hill faced both the elements and Crisfield in the same afternoon. Instead of taking the field for first pitch, Snow Hill’s varsity squad and coaches took to the diamond early with rakes and shovels, working alongside Crisfield’s coaches for over an hour to restore playability after a torrential downpour flooded the field. When the game finally got underway, any fatigue was quickly replaced by production—led by Caleb Butler—as Snow Hill erupted for five runs in the opening inning and never looked back in a 12-2 victory over visiting Crisfield. The early offensive surge set the tone for a game that steadily tilted in Snow Hill’s favor as innings progressed.
Fast Start Sets the Tone
Snow Hill’s offense came alive immediately, stringing together timely hits and capitalizing on walks to build a commanding 5-1 lead in the first inning. RBI swings from Mahoney, Lawson, and C. Butler highlighted the surge, while aggressive base running added pressure on Crisfield’s defense. By the time the inning ended, Snow Hill had firmly established momentum it would not surrender.
Crisfield Strikes Early but Stalls
Crisfield struck first with a run in the top of the opening inning, as leadoff hitter John Dize Jr. came around to score on a defensive interference play while rounding third following a single by Carter Marsh. Cooper Thomas added another run in the third inning after delivering a double and capitalizing on a rundown during a first-and-third situation. Despite putting runners on base in multiple innings, Crisfield struggled to convert those opportunities into big scoring frames, leaving the offense unable to keep pace.
Snow Hill Adds On
After the explosive first inning, Snow Hill continued to chip away. A run in the fifth extended the lead before a decisive sixth inning put the game out of reach. Hits from Weaver, Shipley, and Mahoney, along with aggressive base running and smart situational play, led to a five-run frame that stretched the advantage to double digits.
Pitching and Defense Hold Firm
On the mound, Snow Hill limited big innings and consistently worked out of trouble. Crisp defensive plays, including key outs on bunts and ground balls, helped keep Crisfield off the scoreboard after the third inning. Meanwhile, Crisfield’s pitchers battled but were unable to contain Snow Hill’s balanced offensive attack and constant pressure.
Player of the Game
Caleb Butler (Snow Hill) earned Player of the Game honors after delivering a standout all-around performance, including a key double in the first inning, multiple runs driven in, and strong pitching that helped limit Crisfield’s offense while maintaining control of the game.
Final
Snow Hill 12, Crisfield 2
With the win, Snow Hill heads to Mardela for the MPSSAA Class 1A East Region II championship game.
