Saint Michaels, MD – April 20, 2026
Behind a dominant performance on the mound and just enough offense to make it stand, St. Michael’s varsity baseball shut out Queen Annes County 2–0 Monday afternoon in a tightly contested conference matchup. The Saints made the most of limited opportunities, while the Lion’s defense and pitching kept the game within reach until the final out.
Pitchers Control Pace in Seven‑Inning Duel
Saint Michael’s broke through with single runs in the first and fourth innings, plating the only offense of the afternoon. Queen Annes was held scoreless despite putting runners aboard, as the Saints’ defense tightened in key moments to preserve the slim advantage.
Lions Shows Fight but Can’t Break Through
Queen Annes County finished with four hits but struggled to string together rallies. Jacob Clough and Cooper MacGlashan each recorded hits, while Nathan Procopio added a base knock of his own. Walks provided limited chances, but strikeouts and defensive miscues halted momentum before runs could cross.
Saints Make the Most of Four Hits
Saint Michael’s also tallied four hits, leaning on efficiency rather than volume. Brock Grow and A.J. Dove each scored, with Bradon Toadvine and Brennen Dean driving in the game’s only runs. Dove’s double was the lone extra‑base hit, providing a spark in an otherwise grinding offensive effort.
Another Statement Performance by Toadvine
Lion’s starter Jacob Clough went the distance, allowing just four hits and two earned runs while striking out four over six innings. However, Saint Michael’s right‑hander Brandon Toadvine was even sharper, tossing a complete‑game shutout with seven strikeouts and no earned runs allowed on four hits.
Player of the Game
Brandon Toadvine (Saint Michaels) earned Player of the Game honors after an outstanding all‑around performance. The Saints’ ace worked all seven innings, scattering four hits, striking out seven, and keeping Queen Annes County off the scoreboard while also driving in a run offensively.
Final
Saint Michaels 2, Queen Annes County 0
Saint Michael’s continues to prove it can win close games behind disciplined pitching and timely execution traits that often define postseason contenders.
