Salisbury, MD – March 26, 2026
The Wicomico Varsity Indians showed patience at the plate and resilience on the mound Thursday afternoon, using a steady offensive approach and dominant pitching to secure an 8–4 victory over Salisbury Christian in a seven‑inning contest.
Early Grind Sets the Tone
Wicomico didn’t light up the scoreboard early, but the Indians consistently pressured Salisbury Christian’s defense. Through the first four innings, Wicomico capitalized on walks and timely base running, slowly building momentum while keeping the game within reach. Eleven free passes on the day proved costly for Salisbury Christian and repeatedly put Indian runners in scoring position.
Middle-Inning Momentum Swing
The game shifted in the fifth and sixth innings as Wicomico plated multiple runs to separate from Salisbury Christian. Rowan Okerblom delivered a key two‑RBI hit, while Landon Laroche provided a jolt in the lineup, driving in two and swiping three bases to keep the pressure on. Ayden George and Camryn Blake each added RBI contributions as the Indians turned patience into production.
Riggin Commands from the Mound
Noah Riggin anchored the Indians with a commanding start, working five strong innings. He allowed just four hits while striking out an impressive 13 batters, limiting the damage despite Salisbury Christian’s occasional threats. Mason Townsend closed the door over the final two innings, striking out four and allowing just one run to secure the win.
Defensive Support and Aggressive Baserunning
Wicomico’s defense and speed complemented its pitching staff. The Indians stole seven bases, including three by Laroche, keeping Salisbury Christian off balance throughout the afternoon. Despite committing two errors, Wicomico consistently responded by limiting extra‑base damage and forcing the Crusaders to earn every run.
Player of the Game
Noah Riggin’s (Wicomico) five‑inning, 13‑strikeout performance set the tone early and gave the Indians the mound control they needed to pull away late. His composure and command proved critical in the victory.
